Old and New
Coredump is back online for all you
thousands hundreds dozens of folks that read it. But if you subscribe to the RSS feed, then you probably already knew that.
Also, I've got a new
Tutorial on how to do rollbacks with RPM and up2date. Since I couldn't find good documentation on the web on how to use this little known feature, I thought I'd throw that one out there for all you RedHat/Fedora/SuSE lovin folks. Enjoy.

Site Changes
I made a few changes to the site today. Most obvious is the big gaping hole in the nav bar over there where coredump, my personal blog, used to be. It will return at some point, but for right now, I have other things that I need to focus on.
The consolation prize is that I've started a new technology blog called
malloc. (Yes I'm keeping with that theme) Rather than regurgitate stories that the major online news rags publish [like most tech blogs], I'm only going to publish my own original ideas in that space. The first post is pretty out there, which is a fitting start.
Also on the block is my old photo system. It sucks. Really embarrassingly bad. I swear I threw it together in like 1/2 an hour. It was based on iPhoto, which I realized [when my mac's hard drive failed] was a bad idea. So I'm going to write a new one. I've already got some cool ideas for the interface, and it's going to be a new open source project.

Log Minion 1.1.1 released
As stated, there's a new version of
Log Minion up for grabs. Don't get too excited though, the only new "feature" is that I'm including the Source Code for File::Tail in the distribution package. Now the reason that I decided to do this is actually more interesting.
I was helping a friend install Minion on an AIX box on a corporate network and we couldn't for the life of us get CPAN to work behind the NAZI corporate firewall. It was ugly. We drank much expresso. So after checking the license for File::Tail, I decided to include it in the distro to make life easier on those of you afflicted by a similar malady.

The Source
It's been a little while since I had an update, so I decided to throw a tidbit out here :-)
I'm completely and utterly swamped. I know, it's a lame excuse, but my "extracurricular jobs" have demanded a lot of me lately so I've not had much free time to work on my own projects. To give you an update though, I was in the process of organizing my open source projects into a subversion tree when the dam broke. Once I get subversion set up, I'm going to allow access to the source. Sorry that It's taken me so long.
I've also been debating a few things about Cores. I want to move it to an object oriented implementation before it grows too much larger. I also want to go to a batched mode for default display instead of the "show everything" default that I'm using now. The latter change is a much simpler change than the former. I'll include that code in the next point release.

Coredump 2.0 delayed
I really tried to get it out last week. Really.
It was just not meant to be. I ran into a showstopper bug involving an ugly multidimensional array that I need to be able to sort into some semblence of sanity.
I've already devised a solution, but things have been so busy that I've lacked the time to implement it. Other than that, I need only to build a skeleton css file and site nav to go with it and It'll be out the door. No promises this time on when, just stay tuned.
